Another week in the resistance.

Housekeeping
Is anyone out there interested in helping us tag posts? That seems to be the area where we’re falling down the most.

Reminder that we have a suggestion post if there’s a topic that you’d like to see discussed but would like to ask the mods to look into. This can be anything from general information, or a how-to-do-a-thing, or something you may want to discuss as a community. Folks are welcome to post directly to the comm as always, but if you’re not comfortable/don’t have spoons, we can help too.

thisfinecrew discussion about where to put your energy
has thoughts on philosophies and suggestions for coping with too many things being bad. Also, I proposed setting up something like Topic Teams in case people wanted to organize into smaller groups to track one topic. Is there interest in that? If so, I'll set up a post. That may also be easier to then be able to track what other resistence groups are doing with respect to each topic and what may be most useful in terms of putting pressure on politicians. Thoughts?

I know it's snowflake-y of me, but could you add, "Am an immigrant and not allowed to participate but cheered on my nearest and dearest"?

I think I can help with this; are there instructions?

Thanks for offering! As tassoss says, there aren't really any instructions. I usually look through our existing tags to see if there's something suitable to use, and will create something new if it's a topic we haven't covered previously or where it would be useful to have a more specific tag (like tagging with "daca" or "muslim ban" as well as "immigration").

We have quite a backlog of past posts that aren't tagged, so if you feel up to working through some of those, that would be great. Or if you could just keep on top of tagging new posts as they're made, that would also be really helpful!

I poked at a couple of recent entries this morning, but it sounds like the most useful thing would be to start with older posts, so I'll do some of that as time and focus allow.

I can also try to keep on top of tagging new posts, but expect one-day delays about once a week, and occasional longer gaps when I leave town.

Just wanted to say: thank you so much for taking on the tagging and the work you've done so far to tag posts. It'll make the comm so much more useful going forwards, and even if there are delays and gaps now and then, it's a lot better than tassoss and I were managing between us!

You're welcome. It's a shape of task I'm finding congenial, because I can do it in five- or ten-minute chunks if that's the time and focus I have available. Thank you both for doing all the other work of running the community.

Let's see.... was still recovering from attending the DNC meeting (amazing but exhausting for my introvert self); did join some other folks to lobby my state reps in person, and attended some other political meetings, both formal and informal; got a few phone calls in there as well. (I need to do a better job of updating my calendar and action diary, lol!) Tomorrow being the Day Without Women strike, I may try to use that time to figure out a schedule of what to call/write about next.
