Next elections: Sept. 6, 11, 12, and 13

I'm doubling up on some of these because the dates aren't just on Tuesdays!

If you know anyone in these states, poke them and remind them to vote! Every vote counts! Plenty of local and county offices are ONLY voted on during these early elections, potentially including judges, prosecutors, county commissioners, county election clerks, and more.

Thursday, September 6 -- Delaware

Tuesday, September 11 -- New Hampshire

Wednesday, September 12 -- Rhode Island

Thursday, September 13 -- New York (state level primaries)

For New York -- The state senate primaries are VERY IMPORTANT this year. We have a chance to kick out the 8 members of IDC, who run as Democrats but then form a coalition with Republicans to block Democratic legislation -- and give the Republicans control of the budget process, committee appointments, and what legislation even comes to the floor for a vote. Many New Yorkers don't know this is going on! (More info here)

IDC members: Marisol Alcantara (Manhattan), Tony Avella (Queens), David Carlucci (Rockland), Jesse Hamilton (Brooklyn), Jeff Klein (Bronx), Jose Peralta (Queens), Diane Savino (Staten Island), David Valesky (Onondaga)

Don't let your friends miss out! Remind them to vote!

Thanks for posting these! I knew that the NY election was this month, but this kicked me in the pants to write it down on my calendar! Though sadly I moved out of Marisol Alcantara's district earlier this year. D:

God bless NY and its voter discouraging ways. I'd lost track of the date too--thanks, [personal profile] teaotter.

Once upon a time, I could've voted against one of the IDC too. It would've felt so good.

If Assemblyman Oliver Koppell is running this year, he’s been there for 35 years and is far from the most liberal.

Wikipedia says he hasn't been in the state Assembly for a long time, and was then term-limited out of the New York City Council (the job in which I remember hearing about him). It also says he lost a state senate run in 2014; if I read it right, his platform was against that group of "Democrats" caucusing with the Republicans.
